Rules of the Newbury Pond Yacht Club

THE YACHT CLUB IS AN INFORMAL GROUP AS YET, NOT AN OFFICIAL CLUB.

Some ideas for a code of behaviour .

Seriously though folks there are only two rules. That you keep out of the pond, and you don't try to sue me or the town council if you fall in! You are responsible for your child and you only.

1 Prospective members of the Yacht club must be under 5 years of age
2 All members must be accompanied by their adult.
3 Any member intending to get wet must wear a life jacket.
4 Member's adults intending to get wet are advised to wear LONG Wellies! And are warned it is 4 feet deep!!!!
5 Remote controlled boats are advised and accepted.
6 Anyone displaying unacceptable behaviour will be removed from the pond area and taken for a walk or to the swings, returning after they have calmed down. Harassing other members and wild,  hoodlum behaviour will not be accepted.
7 The consumption of milk, juice and picnic food and snacks is permitted. But not by the ducks.
8 No nuts are allowed in foodstuffs for the safety of other members.
9 Members wishing to feed ducks and swans must retire to the canal area, feeding wildlife at the pond is not allowed. See 7 above.
10 Anyone's adult wishing to take photographs of others must ask permission of their adult first.
11. Theft of another members boat is not permitted but sharing is encouraged.
12 Member's adults must take all nappies and other rubbish home or to a bin.
13 Polite attitude is encouraged, even if you do not yet speak. No verbal abuse will be tolerated.
14 Care must be taken by all members to remain at the perimeter of the pond and not in it. Adults are liable for their own children, and must agree not to sue me or the park if they are daft enough to get into the pond, on purpose or accident!!
15 If a member walks they should show respect for non walking members and try not to climb over them or stand on them. Non walking members are allowed to remain in their pushchairs.
16 Members must not be left unattended.
DRESS CODE
1. Unless potty trained all members should wear a clean nappy.
2 On sunny days all members should wear sunscreen and hats.
3 At least one member's adult present should wear or bring wellies or a wet suit.
4 casual attire is accepted but please note swimsuits though they may be worn should not mean members swim in the pond. It is for boating only.
5 Adventurous members should be restricted by lifesaving apparel in case of accidental entry into the water. Or be restrained in their pushchairs.
6 Member's adults will be decently attired for public park, shorts sandals and vest tops are allowed. Sunbathing clothing may be worn but at the wearer's own risk.
